ISLAMABAD - Around 1,000 of important audit objections in only six government departments are yet to be discussed, while in some cases compliance on over 1,500 paras even after the PACs directives are still awaited since two decades. In most of the government departments compliances on the audit objections is pending from 1985, revealed the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGPs) fresh report made available with The Nation. The compliance position of Public Accounts Committee (PACs) directives on audit reports relating to Civil Aviation Authority (Defence Ministry), National Highway Authority (Communication Ministry), Pakistan Public Works Department & Estate Office (Housing Ministry), Archaeology & Museum (Culture Ministry), Evacuee Trust Property Board (Minorities Ministry) and Pakistan Rangers & Inspector General Interior Corps (Interior Ministry) revealed that 1098 paras were even not discussed. Like-wise compliance on over 1,500 after the PACs directives are awaited, said the report. According to the details, in Defence Ministrys Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Department compliance on over 307 audit paras are awaited. While 92 audit objections were not discussed. As an example,from 1990-93 compliance on 33 cases, in 1997-98 compliance on 52 cases are awaited, said the report. In Communication Ministrys NHA Department compliance on 790 audit paras are awaited. While 627 audit objections were not discussed. As an example, from 1987-94 compliance on 116 cases, 1997-98 compliance on 382 cases are pending, according to the audit report. In Housing and Works Ministrys Department named Pakistan Public Works Department & Estate Office 306 audit paras were not discussed and compliance on 429 are still awaited. As an example, from 1985-92 compliance on 86 cases are awaited, said the report. In Culture Ministrys Department named Archaeology & Museum 22 audit objections were not discussed and in only two cases compliance are awaited. In Minorities Ministrys Department named Evacuee Trust Property Board only three cases were not discussed in PAC and compliance on six cases are awaited from 2000-06. Interior Ministers Departments include Pakistan Rangers & Inspector General Interior Corps are yet to discuss only nine cases and compliance in only two cases are awaited of year 2008-09, said the report.
