LAHORE After the decision of Lahore High Court wherein the court has stopped Director General NAB Punjab, Rana Zahid Mehmood to perform his duties any more, Director and the senior most officer of NAB, Grp. Capt. Shamsher Ali would look after the said office in addition to his own duty, a senior officer of NAB said seeking anonymity. To a question that whether the former DG could attend office on Friday (today) he said that if he comes office it would amount to the contempt of court because he was present in the court when the decision was announced. He said that contract of the said officer had been expired in the past but he was holding the office with plea that some one from Islamabad had asked him to continue with the job. Sources in the NAB said that since there was not Chairman NAB so DG NAB could not be appointed. They claimed that as per NAB ordinance only Chairman NAB was the competent authority to appoint DG NAB. A senior officer said that Pakistan government was not interested in appointing the chairman NAB with the consultation of Opposition leader in National Assembly. Former Chairman NAB Syed Deedar Hussain Shah was appointed with out consultation of the Opposition leader in National Assembly due to which he could not survive. If the government appoint Chairman NAB with the consent of Opposition leader he could give tough time to the PPP led government by opening its cases. So government was running the business of accountability with out making NAB like institution properly functional. Above said situation effect NAB Punjab and there was no proper working in NAB with out provincial and federal head.
