Addressing the seminar, Chairman Four Brothers Group Pakistan Jawed Saleem Qureshi said that the Pakistani agricultural sector is not in a position at all to bear the heavy load of RGST. Proving with in-tact facts and figures, he conveyed to the attendees that the total amount of all the fertilizers and pesticides used in just 4 largest crops of our country is around Rs294 billion, and if RGST of 17pc is imposed on this, the government is going to have Rs51.39 billion of revenue. 86 percent of the farmers are already not properly fulfilling their dreams and not earning properly, then how come they could bear all this. All this is going to result in a decrease of minimum of 20 percent of the total agricultural production, again resulting into a loss of more than Rs341 billion to the crops of wheat, cotton, sugarcane and rice.
