ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has further slashed the prices of as many as 133 basic items by about 5.38 per cent. The decision was made on the occasion of visit of Senior Federal Minister for Industries and Defence Production Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, President Pakistan Muslim League-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, and Advisor to Prime Minister on Industries and Production Raja Basharat to the head office of USC on Thursday. Managing Director USC Arif Khan briefed them about the performance of the Corporation and about the relief being provided to the public. The MD USC on the occasion said that the Corporation has reduced the prices on its own and in the open market no reduction in the prices was made. On the occasion, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain directed the Corporations authorities to make a comprehensive plan for the upcoming holy month of Ramazan and during the month the Corporation should provide maximum relief to the public. On the special direction of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, it was decided in the meeting that henceforth 20kg bag of wheat flour would be sold at Rs 20 less than the open market rate, cooking oil and ghee would be sold Rs 8 per kg less than the market rate and sugar is already being sold at Rs10-15 per kg at all the outlets across the country. The Corporation has reduced the price of dal masoor from Rs 92 to Rs 85 per kg, dal channa from Rs 66 to Rs 64, masoor whole from Rs 82 to Rs 75 per kg, moong washed from Rs 144 to Rs. 138, mash whole from Rs 132 to Rs 120 per kg while the price of black gram was reduced from Rs 65 to Rs 60 per kg. Besides this, the USC also reduced the prices of ghee, cooking oil, beverages, milk, bath soap, insecticides, shampoo and other commodities by Rs. 5 to Rs. 13.
