Overwhelmed by extreme frustration over the inaction and unwillingness of the government and the security agencies, the chief justice has warned the government to follow the Constitution before a state of emergency is declared or martial law is imposed in the country. In the perception of the general public, Pakistan is firmly in the hands of a “Zardari-Gilani-Kayani” troika, complementing each other in pursuit of respective personal mandate and whose sole objective is to see the continuation and perpetuation of the PPP-led government, until, at least, each one of them completes their term of office in 2013.

The reality is that as long as the troika is intact and continues to lend tacit support to each other, there is absolutely no reason why the judiciary should be followed. In the meantime, rampant corruption, misgovernance, ruination of the national economy, targeted and sectarian killings, loot, arson, terrorism, lawlessness and anarchy rule supreme. God help Pakistan!
