ISLAMABAD  - Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Dr Nadeem ul Haq said on Friday that academic research is key to sustainable economic development.

Addressing the research students and faculty members of various national universities in a seminar here, Dr. Nadeem ul Haq said that they were the backbone of the country’s development process.

He urged the researchers to help the government by giving new ideas through their research works.

The training seminar on “Building capacity for writing more effective research proposals” was organized by the Pakistan Strategy Support Program (PSSP) in collaboration with USAID and Planning Commission of Pakistan.

In the seminar, Dr Paul Dorosh, Director Development Strategies and Governance International Food Policy Research Institute, USA, Dr David Orden, Professor Virginia Tech Institute USA, Dr. Sohail J Malik, Chairman Innovative Development Strategies and Professor Jock Anderson, Senior Policy Advisor, World Bank gave presentations on the how to write research proposals in effective way.
