KARACHI - Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Shah Saturday inspected the crime scene where a Kohat bound passenger coach came under armed attack on National Highway near Qazi Ahmed, Benazirabad District.

The IGP called for detailed investigation report about the incident from Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of Hyderabad and Sukkur, who were also present on the occasion. The IGP also directed them to ensure early arrest the culprits involved the incident, in which eight passengers were killed while several others sustained injures.

The IGP directed the DIGs to keep in touch with the investigation of the case and also informed him about the progress report in this respect on daily basis. He also directed them to strengthen the pickets and patrolling by Highway police to control the activities of criminals on National Highway.

Later, the IGP chaired a meeting to review law and order situation in Hyderabad region which was attended by the all concerned police officials. The IGP, after briefing about the about law and order, directed the police to take extra ordinary measures to improve the situation further.

FUUAST organising moot from 29th: The Department of Mass Communication of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) is organizing a conference at the Arts Council of Pakistan here from May 29. An official of the institution said that the three-day moot would be held in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Awaz Institute of Media Sciences, Karachi Press Club and the PIA.

The inaugural session on May 29 will be presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of FUUAST, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser, while Hameed Haroon, chief executive of the Dawn Group of Publications, will preside over.

On May 31, the concluding session would be presided over by the Sindh Minister for Information, Ms. Shazia Marri.

Senior journalists and faculty members as well as experts in various fields would express their views during different sessions of the three-day conference.
