Police efforts lauded for thwarting dacoity

BAHAWALPUR - The Anjuman-e-Tajran have showered praises on the police for averting a dacoity at Fuji Basti Chowk and the killing of a dacoit in the ensuing shootout.
As per detail, two armed dacoits entered Awaise grocery store situated at Fuji Basti Chowk and started looting valuables. In the meanwhile DSP (Legal) Shahid Jamil along with his driver and gunman was passing through the road. The DSP stopped after sighting the accused but the dacoits, sensing the police, opened fire towards them. At which the DSP’s gunman also fired gunshots in retaliation, killing one of the dacoits on the spot. While the other made good his escape from the scene by leaving the snatched money and other valuables behind.
In this connection, a delegation of the central committee of traders met DPO Ahmad Ishaque Jahangir to expressed their gratitude and appreciate the police efficiency. The delegation members appreciated the timely action of the police officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the DPO thanked the traders, saying that he was striving to play the role of a bridge between the public and the department.
He underlined the significance of the public cooperation, saying that he always welcomed positive feedback from the public.
