THE trailers for the Christian Bale’s third Batman film, directed by Chris Nolan, were shown in last night American Idol. They reveal a little more of the action, with a bridge exploding and an aeroplane stunt, as well as more footage of Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman.

One shot shows Christian as Batman’s alter ego Bruce Wayne dancing with a masked Hathaway at a ball and telling her: “That’s a brazen costume for a cat burglar.”

Sassy Anne fires back: “Oh yeah, and who are you pretending to be”, before stealing his car from the party.

The new movie sees the caped crusader launching a comeback after lying low since the end of The Dark Knight.

After villain Bane (Tom Hardy) begins a rampage of distruction in Gotham City, he returns to the Batcave and vows to fight the new wave of crime. He tells right hand man Lucius, played by Morgan Freeman: “I need you to get me back in the game.”

Michael Caine also put in an appearance as trusted butler Alfred, telling the stressed superhero, “It takes a little time to get back in the swing of things.”

The Dark Knight Rises, which also stars Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard and Liam Neeson, is in cinemas on July 20.
