Transporters protest killing of passengers

KARACHI - Transport associations have jointly staged protest against the killing of eight passengers in Nawabshah District
According to the details, various transport associations blocked the main roads of the city and have given a week’s time to the authorities to arrest the assailants involved in the killing.
The Sindh Air Condition Bus Owners Association (SACBOA) chairman Malik Riaz Awan while talking to media said that we demanded protection for transport on the highway and also demand one million in compensation for the victims killed and 0.5 million for the wounded passengers. They stated that a larger demonstration will take place on Monday if their demands are not met, they also said all the major highways will be blocked for traffic.
Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI) Chairman Irshad Bukhari said that they are with SACBO in the protest and will block the superhighway if their demands were not met. He further said the police should not only immediately register FIR of the deadly and violent attack but arrest the culprits at once.
They constituted a joint committee of 10 members containing representatives of all the big unions of transporters including Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI), Sindh Air Conditional Bus Owners Association, All Pakistan Oil Tanker Owners Association (APOTA), and Karachi Goods Careers ‘Association.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sindhu Desh Liberation Army have claimed the responsibility of the said incident and declared the incident as revenge of Muzafar Bhutto and firing on Muhabat-e-Sindh rally.
