LAHORE - Teaching Staff Association (TSA), a representative body of academic staff of University of Engineering and Technology (UET), in its executive committee meeting has strongly condemned humiliation of PU faculty members by the students in a unanimous resolution.

TSA President Prof Dr Sohail A Qureshi said that the teachers’ fraternity assured full cooperation to PU Academic Staff Association (PU ASA) when and where needed. He also assured his support on behalf of Federation of All Pakistan Academic Staff Association Punjab Chapter being its president.

PU ASA’s President Prof Dr Amir Sarwar and Secretary Javed Sami have lauded Punjab government for taking measures to ensure teachers’ safety and curb rogue elements. In a joint statement, they said that the government’s measures were opposed by only scoundrels and such elements did not want peace on the campus and were involved in various instances of academic corruption. They said that Academic Group had been badly rejected by PU teachers in syndicate and ASA elections, which clearly spoke volumes of their popularity and worth in teachers’ community.

They said that Academic Group was spreading false propaganda while ASA’s general body meeting held on May 23 had unanimously endorsed government’s measures for protection of teachers and students and acknowledged that these measures were necessary for maintaining peaceful academic atmosphere on campus.
