QUETTA - A professor of Balochistan University and his son were severally tortured by students on Saturday.

As per details, the activists of Baloch Students Organization (BSO) and Pashtoon Students Federation (PSF) exchanged hot words that resulted in a brawl in both rival groups.

Prof Zahoor Ahmed Badini and his son Goharam intervened and tried to settle the issue between students groups. Activists of PSF got infuriated and allegedly attacked the professor and his son wounding them seriously. Both were shifted to hospital in critical condition. Hospital sources said that professor had received serious wounds in head and his one leg was broken.

Following the incident, dozens of workers of Academic Staff Association, University of Balochistan led by its president Prof Kaleemullah Barech staged a demonstration in front of Quetta Press Club to condemn the torture. They were shouting slogans and demanding for immediate arrest of accused students.

Addressing on the occasion, Prof Kaleemullah and Prof Abdul Saboor Baloch strongly condemned the incident. They said Vice Chancellor of the varsity had failed to ensure security to the teachers as so far five teachers of the university had been killed.

They demanded of the government for immediate removal of varsity VC and warned that if action was not taken against accused in 24 hours they would come up with massive protest.
