Rawalpindi - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera paid a surprise visit to three police stations of city here yesterday.

IGP was accompanied by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja during his visit. Later, IG was also briefed by City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, SP Headquarters Ameer Aslam Niazi about front desks established in three police stations .

According to details, IG Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera along with RPO Wisal Fakhar visited the front desks established in three police stations including Civil Lines, Cantt and Waris Khan police stations . He expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements made for these front desks.

While talking to the civilian staff of the front desks, IG Punjab said that they should provide a respectable and friendly environment to complainants so unnecessarily interference of the Station House Officers (SHOs) and Moharars could be stopped.

Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera directed RPO Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja on this occasion that he himself should monitor these front desks so that the people of Rawalpindi could properly avail this facility.

 Meanwhile, the Anti Narcotics Force carried out operations against drug mafia across the country and recovered 135kg narcotics besides arresting 17 smugglers, including a proclaimed offender, informed ANF HQs spokesman Sami Ullah Khan yesterday.

He added that ANF also seized two vehicles carrying drugs from one place to other. The value of the captured drugs was Rs367 million in the international market, he said.

According to him, ANF conducted 13 operations against drug mafia in Islamabad, Faisalabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, Jamshoro and Nankana Sahib and recovered 44.65kg heroin, 65kg Hashish, 24kg Opium and 1.1kg Amphetamine. ANF also arrested 17 drug traffickers including 1 proclaimed offender and seized 2 vehicles during the operations.

Separate cases have been registered against the detainees with ANF police stations and investigations were under progress, he said.
