Labourer killed as drunkard rams car into trolley

Rawalpindi - One labourer died and three others sustained sever injuries when a drunk driver rammed his car into a tractor trolley from behind on Airport at Shah Khalid Colony yesterday. Police apprehended the drunk driver identified as Syed Qasim Munir hails from Dheri Hassanabadal and registered two cases against him. DSP said the drunk driver was serving as Secretary in Gilgit-Biltistan.

According to police, six labourers were going to their work place on a trolley-tractor. When they reached near Shah Khalid Colony, a speedy car (ICT-UA-086) hit the trolley from behind and as a result all of them fell on road. Police said that one labourer died on the spot while three others severely injured. Meanwhile, people caught the driver and handed him over to the police. Police Station (PS) Airport officials registered two cases against the driver under sections 11, 279/322/427 and 337-G of PPC.

Ambulance service of Rescue 1122 shifted the victims to hospital for medical treatment. The labourer who died on the spot was identified as Muhammad Aslam of Bhakkar. The injured were Mukhtar Ahmed, Muhammad Irfan and Muhammad Jahangir.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Civil Line Circle Farhan Aslam, when contacted, told that the driver of the car was drunk and hit the trolley from behind. He added that the accused was serving as Secretary in government of Gilgit-Biltistan.
