RAWALPINDI - The National Highway and Motorway Police launched tyres safety campaign on GT Road, informed police spokesman yesterday. According to him, DIG NH&MP North Zone has launched a tyre safety awareness campaign in collaboration with a multinational company Maxxis. Tyre safety campaign has been started in the entire zone from Peshawar to Lahore and on Murree Expressway.  The DIG informed that most of the accidents occurred due to worn-out tyres and in this regard road users would be sensitised that tyres in good condition play pivotal role for safe journey.

DIG further informed that vehicles with worn-out tyres would not be allowed to ply on road and would be returned. He further added that 3652 vehicles have been checked on the first day of the campaign and gift hampers have been distributed to the drivers whose vehicles found up the standards. DIG said that this tyre safety campaign would become an important tool in our efforts to reduce road causalities.
