ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) and Capital Police have chalked out a comprehensive security plan for the eve of Eid-ul-Azha as a pre-emptive measure to avert any untoward situation. ICT Police will deploy special contingents of Police and Rangers at all important and sensitive public places, including markets and parks on Eid-ul-Azha. In this regard, security has been beefed up further in the Federal Capital by deploying additional force at all worship places on the day of Eid and security has been tightened at markets of sacrificial animals as well. Policemen will perform their duties at 595 mosques as well as 30 Imam Bargahs as more than 80 cops will be deputed for the security at Faisal Mosque on Eid day. Walkthrough gates and scanners would be installed as part of security measures. Duty rosters have been prepared by the in-charges of Police Stations and Policemen would patrol various sectors during the day and night to check house burglaries and ensure the protection of property of people during Eid holidays. The security arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha were reviewed at an important meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmed. SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan and other officials of Islamabad Police and ICT Administration also attended the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad said that contingency plan for Eid-ul-Azha had been finalised and put in place for strict implementation. He said that ICTA had decided that Eid congregations would be held within the boundary walls of worship places. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmed further said that magistrates, sub-divisional police officers and SHOs would conduct joint patrolling in their respective areas during Eid days and would be responsible of the security around worship places. The participants of the meeting was informed that smooth flow of traffic was also being ensured at the sacrificial animals mandi According to the security plan devised by ICTA for Eid-ul-Azha, city hospitals will remain open and staff of hospitals will also remain on duty round the clock. Similarly, Fire Brigade staff will remain alert and ambulances will also be on standby. The mobile patrols and squads of Islamabad Traffic Police would remain present at prominent points during Eid congregations. Bomb Disposal Squad will remain available at short notice and all public places, parks, and playgrounds will be kept under strict vigilance and security cover. APP adds: PC-1 of new security plan for Red Zone will be prepared by the Capital Development Authority, the spokesman of district administration said. The decision to this effect was made in a meeting attended by Inspector General of Islamabad Police Syed Kaleem Imam, Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed, Director Dev/Finance Anita Turab and other high officials of concerned departments. Structural design of PC-1 (New Security Plan) for beefing up security in the Red Zone including Diplomatic Enclave was discussed in this meeting chaired by the Chief Commissioner Islamabad Fazeel Asghar.
