NOORPUR THAL - EDO Education Mian Muhammad Ismail has said that the Punjab government is promoting education to curb backwardness and poverty. Education is the only way to eradicate all negative tendencies in society and put the country on the road to progress and prosperity.

The EDO said this while addressing the education roundtable session arranged by Children's Global Network Pakistan (CGN-P) here the other day.

The session reviewed in detail the ways and means to further streamline and promote education. The session was attended by Khushab DO Education Madam Shehnaz Anwar, DO Education Aqeel Ahmad, Chief Minister Monitoring Force representative Malik Haji Sabir Hussain Karloo, Assistant Education Officer Habib Ullah, educationists Madam Farhat Yasmin Alvi, Madam Mussarrat Nazir, intellectuals, parents and students in a large numbers.

Speaking on the occasion, DEO Shehnaz Anwar said that government objective of making Pakistan a developed and prosperous country could only be attained by exploiting full potential of its citizens. Concrete steps must be taken to minimize dropout rate at primary level, she added.

Educationist Farhat Yasmin Alvi said that the education system was confined to some out-dated syllabus, which needed some comprehensive efforts to streamline methodology with the dynamic global standards.

On the occasion, the speakers said that the current education system did not enable the youth to fully exploit their potential and creativity by experimenting and innovating, as it emphasizes more on following the predefined procedures.

On the occasion, Monitoring Officer Malik Sabir Hussain, said that the government held promotion of quality education in the top most priorities and for the achievement of the targets set for the purpose, School Reforms Roadmap Programme had been chalked out with the help of Department for International Development (DFID) UK, which was yielding results.

Earlier, CGN-P Founding Director Madam Mehnaz Aziz applauded the services of Children Global Network Pakistan (CGN-P) in the education sector of Pakistan. She said that education plays a pivotal role in the development of a nation.
