7 killed in Quetta, Mastung firing incidents

QUETTA - At least seven people were killed and two others sustained injuries in two firing incidents in Quetta and Mastung, while militants fired a rocket on a security check-post in Panjgour.
Unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire, killing two persons –Abdul Hadi and Lakmir – near Gahi Khan Chowk on Sariab Road in Quetta. The attackers managed to flee from the scene.  Being informed, a police team rushed to the site and shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital Quetta for medico-legal formalities. However, motive behind the incident could not be ascertained.  Separately, five people were killed and two others wounded in a firing incident in Tehsil Dasht, Mastung. Levies sources said that unidentified armed men opened fire, killing five people and seriously wounding two others. However, names of the deceased and injured could not be ascertained immediately. Sources said the incident was the outcome of an old enmity between two tribes and a possible reaction of the killing of two persons near Gahi Khan Chowk in Quetta. Further investigation is underway.  Meanwhile, militants fired a rocket targeting a security check-post in Panjgour. However, no loss of life was reported in the attack.
