LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Tuesday allowed an application for the restoration of a petition’s proceedings seeking disqualification of a former PML-N MPA Shamsa Yousaf filed by her former husband.

Earlier, the petition was dismissed for non-prosecution by another judge.

As hearing started on the application, the petitioner’s counsel argued that he failed to appear before the court as he did not get the notice and the court had dismissed the petition for non-prosecution.

He requested the court to restore proceedings of the petition. Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan heard initial arguments and allowed the request and directed the office fix hearing of the petition in December.

Gohar Sarfraz Qureshi, the petitioner, contended that Shamsa had concealed facts at the occasion of her marriage with him. He alleged that the lady was already married at the time of their Nikah.

The petitioner requested the court to invoke the provisions of Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution declare the MPA disqualified being a dishonest person.
