I would like to draw the attention of concerned authorities to the current situation of recruitment in public institutions. Punjab Public Library (PPL), Lahore has re-advertised two posts of Librarian (BPS 17). The said posts were advertised on 26-06-2014 (Nawa-e-Waqt Newspaper) and against the advertisement almost 250 applications were received, as the domicile was not specified only for Punjab. Applicants were shortlisted and after eliminating all the candidates who were above thirty (as the mentioned age limit was 21-30, violation of government rule), PPL called 122 candidates for the interview, conducted on 27-29 October 2014. A panel of field specialized persons, Chief Librarian PPL, and a columnist conducted the interview.

After 20 days the post was re-advertise in Express News of 18-11-2014. The differences between both advertisements was that the one in July was in Urdu while the new one is in English, in the previous advertisement no age relaxation was mentioned. I would like to know why they re-advertise for the same posts? Does our government have so many resources that they can waste on this process twice? Out of 122 candidates were they not able to select even one? This is seriously horrible; I am feeling sorry for all those, who got leave from their offices and wasted their resources, not only money but time, energy, hope and trust to come for the interview.
