ISLAMABAD - Sparkling ton (133) by Ali Sarfraz and unbeaten 84 by Abil Ali helped Islamabad Region inflict highly unlikely nine-wicket victory against Hyderabad Region in their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2015-16 round five Pool A match here at Diamond Ground on Thursday.

Chasing 269-run target, Islamabad reached home in 57 overs losing just one wicket of Ali Sarfraz, who hammered match-winning 133 while Abid slammed unbeaten 84. Earlier, Hyderabad resumed their second innings at overnight score of 170-7 and were all out for 200. Shoaib Laghari scored unbeaten 76, Shahzad Azam Rana captured 6-38 and Sarmad Bhatti 2-23.

In Pool B match at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi thrashed Karachi Region Whites by 90 runs. Chasing 182 runs, Karachi were bundled out for 91 runs in 43.3 overs. Karachi resumed their second innings at 60-6 and could add another 31 runs. Jaahid Shaukat made 30. Abid and Saad took four wickets each.

At National ground, HBL beat KRL by 51 runs. KRL fought gallantly and fell short by just 51 runs. KRL resumed their run-chase at the overnight score of 45-2 and were all out for 261 in 81.2 overs. Luqman Butt made 80 and Saeed Anwar Jr 76. Umar Gul and Ammad Butt took three wickets.
