LAHORE - The Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, this year, have decided to combine two mega events of 12th Saarc Trade Fair and 9th WEXNET under one floor in Expo Centre Lahore. This will offer diversity, quality and economy to the visitors and will help in develop linkages of Pakistan with themselves and with Saarc exhibitors.

TDAP CE SM Muneer said that these events are unique opportunity for both businesses and consumers. Entrepreneurs will have a platform to share their experiences, offer a wide variety and expand their businesses. The consumers will find local, national and international product range at economical prices. This is indeed the largest exhibition of its kind in Lahore and even Pakistan. SM Muneer said that Trade Development Authority of Pakistan organizes WEXNET, a National Exhibition for Women Entrepreneurs, producing export quality products to support and promote the SME sector.

SAARC CCI Vice President Iftikhar Malik said that it is one of the prestigious events in South Asia to promote regional trade within the SAARC countries, thus creating business and a good rapport among Saarc nations. The platform of Saarc Trade Fair provides opportunity to showcase the finest collection of member country’s Export Merchandise and Services along with cultural beauty.

Iftikhar Malik said that exhibitors from member countries are invited not only to promote their product potential but also to avail the opportunity of trade promotion and cultural exchange among themselves. He said that the economic well being of the people of the region demands a close and active collaboration of the business community of all the regional countries. This is the third Saarc trade exhibition to be hosted by Pakistan and first of its kind in Lahore. More than 45 exhibitors from Saarc Countries are participating in their respective country pavilions in the event while a similar number of Saarc exhibitors will be participating in SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Pavilion, he added. Different product sectors from will also be represented by leading companies in Pakistan Pavilion as well.

Meanwhile, Lahore Division Sarafa and Jewellers Association (LDS&JA) has said that Saarc Trade Fair and WEXNET is a good step towards development of trade and bilateral relations of the Asian countries. The office bearers of the association including Chairman Muhammad Ahmad, President Haji Muhammad Afzal, General Secretary Tahir Mehmood Bhatti and others assured their full support to SAARC in organizing exhibition for women development.

They said that it was an honor for Pakistan to host such a great exhibition for the development and empowerment of women. It stated that majority of the women did not work after getting education. If they had started their own businesses, the situation of the country would have been different.
