According to new ranking of CSIQ Punjab University is listed in the top 8% universities of the world. It remains on 15th position among 2107 institutions of South Asia and is the top ranking university of Pakistan.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran played a vital role in this regard. Research grant was Rs 200,000 in 2007 but in the tenure of Dr Mujahid Kamran it went up to Rs 110 million . The grant of overseas scholarship increased from 45 million to 70 million. In 2008 PU has 210 PhD faculty members which are 750 now.
The education system of Pakistan is badly effected by terrorism, one of its example is the disaster of universities in Balochistan. Due to these circumstances Dr Mujahid Kamran took step and reserved two seats in every department of the university.
