New Delhi: Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Kabir Ahmad Khan has said that SAARC countries possess attractive and diversified tourism products based on their outstanding natural and cultural heritage, which could be made more widely available for domestic and international tourists.

While speaking at the "5th Meeting of SAARC Working Group on Tourism" in New Delhi, Khan said that “he believed that the meeting will help establish a consolidated SAARC Tourism Brand, engage all SAARC destinations, and roll out strategic global marketing campaign and PR activities".

The meeting mainly focused on introducing a uniform visa policy for SAARC nationals for easing visa formalities, launching joint tourism promotional campaign from all SAARC countries, facilitation of cross-border transport, and introduction of special discounted air and railway fares, for tourists traveling between SAARC countries.

The working group would also emphasis on establishing framework for capacity building focused on destination management that can be implemented across all destinations in this region meeting focused on fostering cooperation, between stakeholders from across the SAARC countries to share ideas on how to raise the profile of SAARC and its development.
