Lahore division drug court yesterday awarded 3-month imprisonment to Muhammad Mansha, a quack, for running illegal medical clinic and injecting veterinary vial to people in Basirpur area of Okara district.

The judge also imposed fine of Rs 40000.

Muhammad Mansha, a resident of Head Gul Sher Ahmad road Basirpur, was running his clinic without license, without warrantee and was using veterinary vial medicine on human patients for a long period.

Local police registered a case against him under section 23/27 of Drug Act 1976 after a drug inspector Ifran Manzoor raided his client and found him using animals’ medicine for people. The drug inspector presented challan before the court on June 3, 2015. During the trial, Muhammad Mansha confessed his crime.

However, his counsel requested the court that he did not know the laws and committed the crime first time, so his client be released. The court turned down his request and awarded 3-month imprisonment to the quack and directed him to deposit fine of Rs 40,000.
