GUJRANWALA-PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira criticised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over his silence on the escalating tension on the border because of Indian aggression.

Talking to reporters during his visit to Gujranwala on Saturday, he said that the prime minister had done nothing against India but the PPP leaders and workers would defend the country from the enemies and fight with India to save the national interest.

He said the PML-N government cannot eliminate terrorism from the country as many terrorists are workers and supporters of the ruling party.

Kaira said that in view of the present political situation, the four simple points presented by the PPP to the PML-N will benefit the government. The government should accept these points instead of making the situation more tense, he said and added that the only way to get rid of Panama issue is the forum of parliament. “We want to resolve all the issues including Panama Papers in the parliament through democratic system,” he said.

Kaiara claimed the CPEC was launched by the PPP government. Earlier, Kaira and other leaders were welcomed by hundreds of PPP workers at Qila Chand Bypass.

Meanwhile, protest rallies were held by Jamaat-e-Islami and Khaksar Tehreek against India for the suppression of innocent people in Held Kashmir and violation of the LoC by the Indian army. The protesters were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against Indian Prime Minister Modi and the Indian army.

There were a large number of children in the Khaksar Tehreek protest wearing army uniforms. The protesters vowed that all Pakistanis were ready to protect their motherland and they will fight against the enemy alongside the Pakistan armed forces.

They urged India to give the Kashmiris their right to self-determination according to the UN resolutions. They also set the effigy of Indian Prime Minister Modi on fire.
