Barry’s face Carlton Tower in Polo Cup final

LAHORE –Barry’s will take on Carlton Tower in the Fresher Juice Polo Cup 2016 main final while Learning Alliance and Qatalpur in the subsidiary final to be played today (Sunday) here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground. PIACLK Board of Directors Malik Nazeer Ahmad will grace the final as chief guest while Alhalal Foods Fresher Juice chairman FarrukhSattar will be chief guest. LPC president Irfan Ali Hyderhas said that he is happy to see such high quality polo in the four-goal polo event. “I hope both the finals will be enticing while the players will make the finals more exciting. “This polo season has a flamboyant and impressive start. Trials start for Jr Davis Cup team

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tennis Federation will hold trials to select three-member team and a standby for the Junior Davis Cup from December 27 to December 31. PTF Secretary Khalid Rehmani said nine players were eligible for trials on the basis of their current rankings. The players include M Shoaib, Hamza bin Rehan, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman, Amin Shafi, Noman Aftab, Zubair Raja, Nalain Abbas, Sami Zeb and Aqib Umar. In addition to that all provincials and Islamabad Tennis Association are entitled to one wild card for the trials. All invited players are entitled to return economy class railway fair and accommodation at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex Islamabad. All wild cards holder will bear all their expenses themselves and only accommodation will be provided to them.–Staff Reporter

 

Muslim Gym beat Janoon Club

ISLAMABAD – Visiting Muslim Gymkhana Lahore cricket team defeated Janoon Cricket Club by 8 wickets in 30-overs-a-side match played here Saturday. Coached by former Test umpire Mian Aslam, Muslim Gymkhana is on a week-long tour of twin-cities. Muslim won the toss and opted to field first. Janoon hammered 225-6 in allotted overs. Hamza top scored with 64 in just 35 deliveries. Shahid made 36 and Ali 34. Farhan Nazar captured 3 for 46 while Waqas Aslam also chipped in with 2 for 29. Thanks to sensational unbeaten 109 by Fahad Mahmood off 69 deliveries, Muslim Gymkhana achieved the target in 26.1 overs. Fahad hit 12 fours and as many sixes in his breath-taking knock, while opener Mohsin Arif also remained unbeaten after contributed 59 of 49 balls.–Staff Reporter

 

 

Annual sports day of DA SKBZ College

KARACHI -Annual Sports and Prize Distribution Ceremony of Defence Authority Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed College was held here Saturday. Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali was the chief guest of the function. The students dressed in colourful attires presented a splendid programme which included an impressive march past, a spectacular mass PT display and taekwondo martial art techniques by the young students. Earlier the Principal, Brig (R) Mirza Khawar Baig in his inaugural address recounted the achievements of students in academics, sports and other co-curricular activities. He said that the vibrant and stimulating educational environment provided at the College helped in achieving academic excellence and goals of quality education.
