It is quite appreciable that the federal government is paying due attention to the accelerated development of country’s province area-wise Baluchistan and to bring it at par with other provinces at the earliest.

According to the reports in the newspapers, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has announced a ten year package for development of all areas of Baluchistan so that it is brought at par with the rest of the country in terms of provision of basic facilities to the people without any discrimination whatsoever and this is quite commendable indeed.

The prime minister has made this welcome announcement while talking to the media after reviewing the development projects in Baluchistan in a meeting at the Governor’s House in Quetta saying that the funds for the development package will be equally shared by the federal and the provincial governments and its implementation will commence during the current year. He said that the provincial government had proposed the package and it has been agreed upon almost instantly by the federal government which is committed to the provision of gas, education and health facilities on priority basis to the people of Baluchistan through this development package which will be implemented in every union council of the province.

Besides Rs 20 billion project being undertaken by the Sui Southern Gas Company regarding mixing of LPG in the gas system, the prime minister was also given briefing about ongoing development projects costing Rs 80 billion under comprehensive China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and law and order situation in the province.

All this what the prime minister has announced will surely bode well for socio-economic development of our Baloch brethren and sisters and is quite commendable, indeed.
