It is a well-known fact that employment opportunities in the public sector including the provincial government and the autonomous bodies are quite limited and all those seeking government jobs as such cannot be fully accommodated. Doing your own business at large, medium or small scale is the best alternatives.

Punjab government has done well to come out in such of these employment alternatives in the private sector by launching the Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme which is yet another unique initiative for socio-economic uplift of the people.

Provincial Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif quite rightly has said that this unique initiative is transforming lives of the hundreds of thousands of families across the province.

According to the reports in the media, the chief minister said that the provincial government has provided interest free loans to more than 1.7 million families during the last couple of years, an amount of Rs 36.70 billion has already been given as interest free loans and it is worth mentioning pointedly that the rate of return of these loans is as high as 99.96 per cent and an additional amount of Rs 2 billion has also been allocated for this peoples’ welfare scheme during the current financial year.

Presiding over a video link meeting, the chief minister also reiterated that transparency and merit are the two important symbols of the scheme which is fast turning into a movement aiming socio-economic uplift of the people.Every good thing being done by the provincial government for welfare and well-being of the people in the rural as well as urban areas of the province should be duly appreciated all in all fairness, please.
