PESHAWAR - A transgender person was shot dead in Khyber Supermarket area of the city on Sunday.
Sher Afzal, brother of the slain transgender, told the police while lodging the first information report (FIR) of the incident that Wasiullah, son of Gul Zaman, shot dead Spogmai, who was living in a flat in Khyber Supermarket.
A policeman at the Gulberg Police Station said that the victim received three bullet wounds and was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) for treatment. The LRH spokesperson Asim said that the doctors shifted the injured to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and started provided treatment, adding that the victim succumbed to the injuries in the ICU. He said that the body was shifted to Khyber Medical College for post-mortem.
Soon after the incident, members of the transgender community reached the LRH and demanded arresting the killer.
Gulberg police said that a search operation had been launched to arrest the suspect.
