LAHORE - Zain Nawab of DA Creek Club stunned second seed Nadir Bachani of Hyderabad to reach the men’s singles final of the 18th Westbury Tennis Championships here at DA Creek Club.
In the men’s singles semifinals, Farhan Altaf beat Nadir Mirza 7-6, 6-0 to set final clash against Zain Nawab, who continued his winning streak against the superior rivals and overpowered second seed Nadir Bachani by 3-6, 6-1, 10-0. Later pairing with his father Air Vice Marshal Razi Nawab in men’s doubles, Zain beat top seed Aqeel Shabbir/Murad Khan 8-4 to reach the men’s doubles final, where they will face Noor/Danish, who beat Vinod Das/Ali Imam 9-7. In U-17 singles semifinals, Raahim Veqar beat Ahsan Ahmed 6-4, 6-0. In the girls U-15 singles semifinal, Laaibah Ismail beat Shanze Rashid 6-1, 5-4, Versha Das beat Amna Haris 4-2, 4-2, in U-13 singles semifinal, Nael Mirza beat Ali Bachani 4-1, 5-4. In U-11 singles quarters, Hadi Mehmood beat Laraib Shamsi 5-3, 4-0. In 35 plus singles final, Saqib Zia beat Robin Das 8-2. In U-9 singles semis, Rashid Bachani beat Mustafa Naveed 4-1, 4-2 and Majid Ali beat Aidh Imran 5-4, 2-4, 10-6. In 35 plus doubles semis, Asad/Nomi beat Ali/Shamel 8-1.
