LAHORE - Goodwill Foods stunned title favourites Sherwood in the final of the World Call Polo Championship at the Lahore Polo Club's Aibak ground here on Sunday. Asif Tiwana, following a drop of handicap this season, led his team Goodwill Foods to victory with six goals. His team enjoyed half a goal handicap advantage and were not billed as favourites as he was the only worthwhile player in his team. Omar Asjad Malhi scored both the opening and the final goals of the match for the winning side. Malhi seemed in very good touch and comment in the air at LPC was that he looks a little extra with the mallet once free of political distractions. For Sherwood, which ended with a tally of five goals, Mian Shahzad Aziz played the lone hand with four goals. Shahzad, a player with one handicap, failed to find support from his other fellows. Kasim Ahmed Khan and Malik Azam Hayat Noon umpired the match with Naveed Sheikh serving as referee. Earlier in the match up for the third position, Adisseo just managed to edge aside Nazir & Co by 8-7. The was abound in fouls and most of the goals were scored on penalties. Hamza Mawaz Khan converted all the on-field six goals for the losing side. Usman Haye converted four for Adisseo. Irfan Ali Hyder and Agha Murtaza Ali Khan served as umpires. Later in the evening, chief guest Dr Rizwan Naseer, Director General Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122) distributed prizes among the winners. Teams: Goodwill Foods: Muhammad Usman Zulfiqar.
