In a surprising development, the local Taliban council has said that militants will move into Afghanistan if the army launches an operation in North Waziristan. A pamphlet purportedly distributed by the Mujahideen Shura of North Waziristan in Miramshah bazaar on Sunday said that the Taliban would ask Afghan President Hamid Karzai to provide shelter to their men if the army launched an operation in North Waziristan. It has not been known whether the Karzai government would give them shelter, but if Kabul extends a hand of friendship to them, or the Rabbani-led Afghan Peace Council recommends giving shelter to them, it would question the Pakistan governments policy as well the dualism and duplicity of the Taliban themselves. Those who are fighting in Pakistan against the security forces, killing innocent people and ruining lives of millions of society members, will be given shelter by the Afghan government? Strange Then why Gen David Petraeus has launched a full-fledged operation in and around Kandahar? Against whom? Are they not the Taliban? Are those Taliban not asking Kabul for a halt in the operation and negotiate peace? Are the Taliban of North Waziristan not linked to the Afghan Taliban? Are they going to treat them differently? The questions remain clueless. Only one answer is left that reports that the TTP is an extension of US-Indian forces, who is pushing the Great Game agenda ahead. Otherwise the hammer and anvil concept would have been applied. Reports that during the SWA and Swat operations, men of Hakimullah and Fazlullah escaped to neighbouring Afghanistan are alarming. There have also been reports that the NATO-Afghan helicopters airlifted them to other side of the border and in addition they vacated more than eight border posts in a bid to relax check on infiltration, as if they were their own men launched against Pakistan. Ironically enough Mullah Abdus Salam Zaeef, the then Afghan ambassador Pakistan extradited to US, is enjoying Karzai-sponsored perks and privileges in Kabul. He is still anti-US, anti-NATO, anti-ISAF, anti-occupation Taliban whose comrades are facing the biggest operation in and around Kandahar. There is more to this than meets the eye. Islamabad has vowed to launch an offensive in NWA at the right time, but if they succumb to the pressure and launch a grand operation in Waziristan, they will have to be extra careful because the enemy only wants them to be bogged down in a long and tiring war.
