NANKANA SAHIB - Punjab Deputy Attorney General and Haj Director are giving threats to aspiring 61 Haj applicants. Addressing a press conference, Maulana Jamil, Habib Ullah Jamil, Farooq Awan and Malik Bao Zafar said that some officers from Haj Ministry tried to restrict bank staff from depositing Haj charges on August 8, 2011 after issuing Haj forms. They refused to send us on Haj despite our several visits to Islamabad office for two months. We filed a writ petition in the court of LHC Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry on September 22. Punjab Deputy Attorney General and Haj Director Saeed Malik promised before the court that Haj ministry would be responsible for their departure and would ensure all necessary arrangements for all 61 applicants. Unfortunately, due to their personal interests, a Haj ministry officer threatened us and gave an offer that only 6 out of 61 applicants would be able to go for Haj otherwise all of us would be deported from Jeddah Airport as punishment, they explained. The petitioners have requested the LHC CJ to protect them from the threats of Haj secretary and Haj director.
