BAHAWALNAGAR - Trees worth hundreds and thousands of rupees burnt to ashes as a fire broke out in the forests along Minchinabad Road here. The fire engulfed many acres of land within no time and hundreds of trees burnt to ashes. Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot after getting information and tried to extinguish the fire in collaboration of fire brigade and the local inhabitant. Rescue team managed to extinguish rising flames after hours-long efforts. However, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained so far. A spokesman of local forest department disclosed that the fire broke out due to the power short circuit. On the other side, local dwellers Shahbaz Bhatti, Waqar said that the forest officials set the forests on fire to hide their corruption.
