LAHORE The higher authorities of Lahore Development Authority are thinking of verify the degrees and certificates of contractual assistant directors on the mounting pressure of senior slot of LDA, who mostly are working as subordinates of such contractual employees, insiders informed TheNation on Wednesday. The insiders further informed that such senior officials are putting pressure in this regard on the higher authorities after the dismissal of former deputy director IT Dept Mansoor Butt on account of having bogus degree of BCS. He also was given acting charge of 'One Window Operation of LDA and was working as director of such most important section. The insiders informed this scribe that a case of holding bogus degree has been registered in a local police station against Mansoor Butt on the complaint of the LDA authorities, which further is under trial in a local court. They said that in case, the court concerned declared him innocent, it is discretion of LDA authorities to restore his services or not because he was recruited on contract basis and according to rules services of contract employees could be terminated any time even without telling them the reason of terminations. He in fact was recruited as assistant director (IT) in 2009 through NTS recruiting system of department but was posted as deputy director (IT) being blue-eyed of the high ups of LDA, they added. They said LDA recruited not less than 150 assistant directors during 2009-10 for various departments including Information Technology, Planning and Development, Engineering Section, Legal Section and for general cadre as well out of which mostly assistant directors later vacated their seats on finding better job opportunities in different private companies and government departments while a number of ADs out of remaining stuff were promoted out of the way on different attractive posts, replacing senior officials of Deputy Director and Director ranks. They said that such assistant directors, who have left their jobs, were recruited against technical seats but were not happy with their existing job due to undue pressure of work with no profit. Most of such assistant directors belonged to technical sections and they secured Engineering, Law, IT and other bachelor or master degrees from reputed educational institutes, they added. They further said the present slot of ADs working on senior posts of different sections might be under prosecution particularly after the appearance of 'fake degree scam in the department.
