Pakistan keen to expand ties with Qatar, says PM

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with the State of Qatar and desires to further expand the existing cooperation between the two brotherly countries in various fields for the mutual advantages. In his meeting with Ambassador of the State of Qatar, Sayar Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Mawdah at PMs House here Wednesday afternoon, the Prime Minister emphasized the need of exchange of delegations at various level between the two countries. He said that there existed great potential to enhance bilateral trade between the two countries, which must be explored. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan offers excellent investment opportunities in dimensional fields, which would be explored by the businessmen from Qatar by taking advantage of the liberal investment environment in Pakistan. The Prime Minister also mentioned the quick response of the Government of Qatar to the October 2005 earthquake, during the last year floods and also providing assistance for the floods and rain affected people of Sindh. The Ambassador of Qatar said that the leadership of Qatar is desirous of further enhancing the existing ties between the two countries. He acknowledged the services of Pakistani community making valuable contributions to the economic and social development of Qatar. He also extended invitation to the Prime Minister on behalf of the Prime Minister of Qatar to visit the country. The Ambassador of Qatar expressed deep sorrow and grief on behalf of the Government and people of Qatar on the demise of Begum Nusrat Bhutto.
