CNG stations closed against price decrease

BUREWALA – At CNG stations gas was selling on the old rates till Friday morning and when the administration took notice of the situation the CNG Association District Vehari decided to close their gas stations.
CNG Association District Vehari Chairman Mian Abdul Mateen said, “We have to bear 10 to 12 rupees loss per one kg of the gas on the new rates which is intolerable and we have decided to go on strike till the further decision in line with other cities.”
The people on the other hand criticised the CNG stations owners for overcharging despite the news rates announced by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority and as they welcomed the Supreme Court and termed success of the rule of law. They demanded of the government to take strict action against the CNG station holders for non compliance of Supreme Court orders.
MEPCO STAFF THRASHED BY FARMERS: Assistant Manager Mepco Haji Sher Subdivision and his staffers were manhandled and made hostages by a farmer as they had gone to disconnect tube well connection of the accused due to non-payment at Sahuka.
He along with his others staffers went to disconnect tube well connection of Ali Ahmad Khan at Mouza Sahuka due to non-payment of the electricity bills and said farmer allegedly tortured and locked the Mepco team in a room and they were got released after the involvement of the Pakistan Kissan Ittehad office-bearers.
The Mepco authorities have filed an application in the police station to lodge a case against the farmer. Meanwhile, Wapda Hydro Electric Labour Union office-bearers at a meeting condemned the incident of the manhandling of the Mepco officials and staffers and demanded action against the accused. Pakistan Kissan Ittehad office-bearers and members have announced not to pay electricity bills of their tube wells and demanded of the government to restore May rates for the tube wells.
TRADER ATTACKED: Former president of Anjuman Arhatian of Grain Market Burewala was injured by a merchant over money dispute at Chungi No 5 Multan Road.
Chaudhry Zulfiqar was coming to grain market from his house at Gulshan Rehman Town on a motor-cycle when he reached Chungi No 5 where a merchant Sarfraz Ahmad Khokhar, a resident of Chak No. 1/WB Vehari, intercepted him and attacked him with a sharp edge weapon and brutally injured him.
He was rushed to THQ hospital Burewala for medical attention but doctor after giving first aid referred him to Nishtar hospital Multan. Model Town Police arrested the accused Sarfraz with a weapon and registered a case against him.
