KARACHI - People thronged beach or visit Quaid-e-Azam mausoleum during Eid days every year due to lack of picnic points with proper facilities.Besides, the Karachiites also throng Safari Park and Zoo in Garden area every year during Eid days, which also lacked facilities for the citizens.The parks and entertainment points located in each residential area of the City have witnessed in old days but due to increased population and converting these recreational places into commercial points depriving the citizens of entertainment points, where they can sit with the families and children. According to information gathered by this scribe, the only beach, Quaid-Azam’s mausoleum, Safari Park and Zoo garden are the only places where people go to enjoy the Eid picnic. However, on the day of Eid, people mostly remained busy exchanging Eid greetings with relatives and neighbours after offering Eid prayers, while late in the evening they go out for picnic with families in the City.Keeping in view of every year’s celebrations, it had been witnessed that on the second and the third day, the general public moved to Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum, Clifton beach, Sandspit, Hawks Bay, and amusement parks including Aladdin Park, Zoo park in Garden, Clifton funland and Sindbad. The beach and the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum are the two busiest picnic points where people in millions came during the holidays of Eid. Due to heavy rush at public places on the first two or three days of Eidul Azha, families, however, avoid visiting such places. Certain recreational spots especially the zoo have officially remain closed for women for the first two days of Eid because of rush of males and youths who come and spent the whole day.  The last few years’ statistics showed that about 40,000 to 50,000 people, mostly youths in groups, came to visit the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum during the holidays of Eid. More rush is expected on the second day of Eidul Azha as people may throng these two places with their families on Eid days.According to reports, the cases of deaths due to sinking in sea witnessed more on Eid days as heavy rush is witnessed on Eid days at beach.Meanwhile, workers at the Hawks Bay had been ordered to remain alert on Eid days as people especially boys go into deep sea, putting their lives in danger.
