QUETTA - Two Pakistani citizens were reportedly killed and three others wounded in Chagai district as the Iranian security forces opened fire on them Saturday.
According to sources in Chagai administration, the incident took place in the buffer zone area adjacent to Pak-Iran border. “Iranian security forces opened indiscriminate fire that resulted in the death of two Pakistani nationals,” the sources claimed.
They said the Iranian authorities have informed Pakistani officials that the killed persons were the drug peddlers and had illegally entered Iranian territory. The Iranian authorities also claimed to have recovered narcotics from the persons killed in the firing. However, the Pakistani officials who received the bodies from Iranian authorities were shown no evidence regarding recovery of narcotics,” the sources said.
They said the deceased were identified as Muhammad Ibrahim and Muhammad Saleem and the injured as Obaidullah, Shamsul Haq and Badaruddin. The deceased were said to be the residents of Washab area of Chagai district.
It may be mentioned here that in past, Iranian border security forces had not only opened firing but also carried out shelling on the population settled near to the Pak-Iran border, in which scores of people were killed.
