The residents of Phalia Highway areas have criticised MNA Ijaz Chaudhry who has constructed two speed humps in front of his house on the road thereby causing permanent inconvenience for the road users.

They demanded immediate removal of the speed humps. They said these obstacles were hampering the flow of traffic and damaging vehicles as well as causing inconvenience to the local people. The citizens said those speed humps were the only achievement of the MNA made after his election. They further said the speed humps constructed by local administration are illegal and not properly designed as these were causing accidents.

APPOINTMENT: The Election Commission of Pakistan appointed Abdul Hafeez, a retired district & sessions judge, at the Election Tribunal Bahawalpur.

Abdul Hafeez will assumed the charge on Monday. Earlier, the Election Commission had abolished the tribunal. A total of 28 cases are under trial at the tribunal. The civil society and lawyers community welcome the step and hoped that the Election Tribunal would provide justice to the petitioners.

Robberies: With the rise in robbery incidents in city two more motorbikes, gold ornaments and other valuables worth millions were stolen over the past 24 hours. Such incidents are observed mainly in suburban areas

According to details, the robbers fled away with a motorcycle owned by Sheikh Shehzad from outside Improvement Trust Plaza on Fatima Jinnah Road in the remit of City Police. Similarly, another motorbike of Bilal Ahmed was also stolen from the University in the precincts of Sajjid Shaheed Police.

Sources revealed that in Umer Park and village 8/SB, thieves broke the locks of two houses and decamped with gold ornaments, cash and other precious items.
