ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) to identify and take to task the culprits involved in massive embezzlement in Kashmir Highway Project.  The Prime Minister expressed these views while taking briefing from the officials of the Capital Development Authority at Kashmir Highway Project site office on Kashmir Highway on Saturday.

The Chairman CDA briefed the Prime Minister that the Kashmir Highway Project has suffered from neglect and mismanagement over the past several years and due to the non-completion of the project on time, the citizens of Islamabad have suffered.  He further informed the meeting that rules and regulations were manipulated to benefit few contractors and officers in the past and that it has resulted into delay, poor quality of work and a substantial increase in the cost of the project.

The PM said that the government was fully committed to ensure the provision of best road network and other amenities to the residents of the federal capital.

"State exchequer has been robbed while undertaking the Kashmir Highway Project and all those responsible would be held accountable and taken to task," said the Prime Minister.

He emphasized that best quality work and timely completion of the project must be ensured. "The quality of work on the project must match that of the Motorway," concluded the PM.
