Petition seeking contempt of court proceedings against Zardari admitted for hearing

ISLAMABAD- Islamabad High Court (IHC) has admitted for hearing petition seeking initiation of contempt of court proceedings against former president Asif Ali Zardari for giving anti judiciary statements and using derogatory remarks against former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

Chief Justice of IHC Anwar Khan Kansi took up for hearing the petition in connection with contempt of court proceedings against Asif Ali Zardari Monday.

The petitioner told the court that former president had targeted the superior judiciary during public meetings of his party and had called former CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as Dajjal while such words come under the ambit of contempt of superior judiciary. The court while ordering for fixing the case again for hearing adjourned the hearing indefinitely.
