KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday approved resignations of three MQM lawmakers, working as advisers and special assistant to chief minister in the provincial cabinet.

MQM lawmaker Faisal Subzwari was holding portfolio of Adviser to CM on Youth Affairs, Adil Siddiqi as Adviser to CM on Sports and Abdul Haseeb Khan as Special Assistant to CM on Auqaf.  On October 19, the three lawmakers along with two others - Dr Saghir Ahmed and Rauf Siddiqui, serving as health and industries and commerce ministers respectively – resigned from their posts after the party decided to quit the coalition with the PPP over derogatory remarks by its leadership against Mohajirs and MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

According to Chief Minister’s spokesman Waqar Mehdi, the resignations were accepted by Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday.  Meanwhile, the resignations of two MQM ministers sent to Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad were still pending. The party lawmakers had urged the concerned authorities to accept their resignations immediately after their submission and also filed an application with Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani to allot Opposition benches to them.
