Siraj urges harmony, peace during Muharram

PESHAWAR - Central Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Siraj-ul-Haq has said that the month of Muharram teaches peace and tolerance and both Shia and Sunnis must unite to shun sectarianism and extremism in the country.
He was addressing a press conference at Markaz-e-Islami Peshawar on Sunday.
Provincial Ameer Professor Ibrahim, Provincial Information Secretary Israrullah advocate, District Peshawar Ameer Sabir Hussain Awan, Jamaat-e-Islami FATA spokesman Shah Jehan Afridi and others were present on the occasion.
Siraj said that Muslims must know about the conspiracies being hatched by their enemy to divide Muslims into sects and they have to remain vigilant to foil these nefarious designs.
He added that the month of Muharram is equally respectful for both Sunnis Shias.
He also stressed media role for bringing harmony and unity among different sects.
He further added that religious scholars are the binding force of the nation and they must play active role to discourage sectarian issues. He said that western civilizations are on then decline while the future belonged to Islamic civilization.
He also welcomed Tahir-ul-Qadri's decision to participate in elections and end his sit-in.
Commenting on the ongoing political deadlock with PTI, Siraj said that soon Shah Mahmood Qureshi will hold a meeting with JI leaders in Mansura today to resolve the issues.
He said that there is a need for political stability and the Speaker National Assembly must give more time to PTI legislatures to think about their resignations.
He said that Jamaat-i-Islami is playing an active role to discourage the culture of corruption and dishonesty and for this purpose they have started efforts. He clarified that Jamaat-i-Islami does not believe in a system where the poor could not come to courts without having money as upholding justice is one of the basic principles of Islamic state.
He said that the day is not far when the country will get rid of landlords and capitalists class.
