ACCA unveils new ‘Ethics and Professional Skills module’

LAHORE (PR): ACCA held the launch event for their Ethics and Professional Module in Pakistan on Thursday.

The event featured a panel discussion on ACCA’s report, ‘Ethics and trust in a digital age.’ The panellists included; Helen Brand OBE - Chief Executive, ACCA, Dr Farrukh Iqbal – Dean & Director, Institute of Business Administration, Fuad Hashimi – Executive Director, Centre of Excellence in Responsible Business (CERB, part of Pakistan Business Council), Syed Atif Zafar-Head of Research, JS Global Capital Limited, Asim Siddiqui – Country Managing Partner/CEO, EY Ford Rhodes Chartered Accountants.

The panel was moderated by Faisal Qamar – Managing Partner, HRSG BPO and the chief guest was Sirajuddin Aziz – President & CEO, Habib Metropolitan Bank.

At the launch, Helen Brand, ACCA’s chief executive highlighted, “Our qualification is the world’s first to emphasise professional as well as technical skills and ethics in this way. Through this, we’re building on our market-leading position – we were the first professional accountancy body to introduce a compulsory ethics module a decade ago - and reinforcing ACCA members’ standing as professionals who deliver public value. In this way, together, we will define the professional accountant of the future.”

 

HBL wins Fire Safety Award

KARACHI (PR): HBL was awarded with the ‘Best Fire Safety Practices in High Rise Buildings Award 2017’ during the Fire Safety Convention which was jointly organised by the Fire Protection Association of Pakistan and National Forum for Environment & Health at a local hotel.

Provincial Minister Sindh for Labor & Transport, Nasir Hussain Shah was the chief guest and distributed the awards. Awards were given in 22 different categories. This is the sixth consecutive time that HBL has won this award.

 

 ICAP arranges meet-up

LAHORE (PR): The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) is committed to provide quality professionals for the development of business activities in Pakistan. In this regard, ICAP brought together the Lahore Chamber of Commerce (LCCI) and the business elites at a local club.

Razi Khan, Executive Director ICAP, delivered the welcome address. Mazhar Iqbal, MD & CEO of Pioneer Cement, appreciated the traits of chartered accountants and shared about joint efforts of CA’s with business leaders in the success of businesses.

Abdul Malik, Secretary ICAP endorsed the views of Mazhar and assured that the Institute will do its best to keep on producing quality professionals.

Mrs Nasreen Kasuri, the chairperson of Beaconhouse School System, shared her views on the importance of the role of chartered accountants in taking right decisions at the right time in right directions.

LCCI President Malik Tahir Javaid appreciated ICAP’s efforts in helping businesses in meeting the challenges by providing quality professionals.

Nadeem Yousuf Adil, President ICAP, agreed with the views of the speakers and assured best possible cooperation by ICAP for the development of businesses in Pakistan.

 

 

 Fast Cables wins int’l certifications

KARACHI (PR): Governor of Sindh, Mohammad Zubair and Kamal Mian, Director of Fast Cables, officiated at the unveiling ceremony of KEMA Gold Certifications at the Future Summit held in Karachi the other day. KEMA Gold is an internationally recognized certification awarded by the world renowned KEMA Laboratories of Holland for product quality, reliability and safety. Fast Cables is the first Pakistani electrical cable manufacturer to qualify for the coveted award making the brand synonymous with international quality standards.

In his address to the summit, attended by 300 top company executives, Governor Sindh Mohammad Zubair congratulated Fast Cables for their achievement, saying that the KEMA Gold Certification award is a source of great national pride as it places Pakistani products at a par with the very best available in the international cable industry.

 

 Artist Ali Kazim awarded at KB17

KARACHI (PR): Ali Kazim from the National College of Arts won the Mahvash & Jahangir Siddiqui Juried Art Prize at the Karachi Biennale 2017 (KB17). The biennale exhibitions displayed various forms of art. In his installation for KB17, Kazim used human hair to create a three-dimensional drawing in the space. His work derives from his interest in the complexity of the human body, both in its physiognomy and as a thematic concern. Ali Kazim was selected for the Award by three independent jurors.

The KB17 jury convened from the 18th to 20th October, surveying over 140 works of art displayed across 12 venues in Karachi. Their judgment was based on originality of creativity, interpretation of the theme WITNESS, innovative use of material and imagination of depiction. The Karachi Biennale is supported by JS Group as its lead partner.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Awareness drive on world osteoporosis day

KARACHI (PR): This year on World Osteoporosis Day, Martin Dow took the official “Love Your Bones Protect Your Future” international campaign ahead, raising awareness and promoting a healthier lifestyle by organizing lectures and programs for students in different universities across Pakistan, from 20th October onwards. The awareness drive included visiting a number of universities across the country. The lectures arranged by Martin Dow aimed to help students better understand their body and encourage them to recognize some of the alarming signs of osteoporosis.
