According to Kashmir Media Service, in Indian Held Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq , terming October 27, 1947 as Black Day in Kashmir has said the shutdown is the way to express resentment against Indian occupation.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that India had invaded Jammu and Kashmir on this day in 1947, adding that the Kashmiris would continue their freedom struggle till it reached its logical conclusion.

He said that India was trying to deal Kashmir militarily, which was unacceptable to the people of Kashmir. “Kashmir is the highly militarized zone of the world and besides that several black laws have been put in place by the authorities. The authorities want to deal every Kashmiri including its leadership through military might, which is unacceptable,” he said.

The Mirwaiz said that Kashmir dispute must be resolved as per the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. “There are two possible ways to address the Kashmir dispute. One is the implementation of the UN resolutions while the other is dialogue. Any settlement over the Kashmir dispute must accommodate the aspirations of Kashmiri people,” he said.

The spokesman of High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir in a statement issued in Srinagar terming 27th October as Black Day , said India should withdraw its troops from Kashmir to facilitate the holding of a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir . He urged the UN to take steps to implement its resolutions on Kashmir without any further delay.

The spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League in a statement in Srinagar, describing October 27, 1947 as Black Day for Kashmiris said that India had occupied the Jammu and Kashmir without any constitutional and moral justification and against the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He said that since then the occupational forces were committing atrocities on the Kashmiris to suppress their peaceful voice for freedom.
