LAHORE -  The Punjab AIDS Control Programme on Thursday set up a free medical camp for truck drivers at Rikhi Morr, Mianwali.

At the camp, truck and bus drivers can have free medical tests for HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, blood group and blood sugar and treatment for hepatitis C and vaccination for hepatitis B. Besides free testing services, drivers will also be given awareness about HIV and hepatitis B and C.

Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir said, “Bus and truck drivers are always on the move and they have little time to see doctor for a routine checkup. With the support of the Punjab Goods Transport Association, we have been able to reach out to transport staff.”

PACP Director Dr Asim Altaf said, “We will continue to cater to people with high risk behavior and those from marginalised groups. The programme plans to open similar camps in other busy centres of northern and southern Punjab.”
