Lahore - Sherwood qualified for the main final of the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital-sponsored Polo in Pink 2017 while Total Nutrition made way for the subsidiary final after registering victories in their respective matches played here at the Lahore Polo Club ground Thursday.

In an important match of the day, the one and half goal handicap advantage was the main difference between Sherwood and MMS as both the teams were 7-all when the final whistle was blown, but Sherwood were declared ultimate winners with handicap advantage and also qualified for the main final.

From Sherwood, Adnan Jalil Azam was hero of the day as he fired fabulous five goals while Bahawal Mohsin Maan and Frasat Ali Chatha hit one goal apiece. From MMS, the major contribution came from Haris Haroon Malik whi hammered a hat-trick while Mian Khurram Munir and Faisal Khan scored a brace each.

In another match of the day played among three teams including Total Nutrition, Barry’s and Sakuf under American system, Total Nutrition emerged as winners after beating both the opponents and qualified for the subsidiary final. First Total Nutrition defeated Barry’s 3-2½ and then they beat Sakuf 2½-2 in another thriller. Earlier, Barry’s outpaced Sakuf 5½-4.

Tomorrow (Friday), Diamond Paints, Newage and Black Horse Paints will vie against each other under American system for the berth in subsidiary final while the second match will be played among Guard Group, Jalpana and Qatalpur under American system and the winner will qualify for the main final.

Meanwhile, LPC secretary Col (r) Shoaib Aftab has announced that due to Pakistan-Sri Lanka third T20 match to be played on Sunday at Gaddafi Stadium, the Polo in Pink final will now be conducted on Saturday instead of Sunday. “I hope the final will be very exciting one. The purpose of holding it in collaboration with Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital is to make the masses aware of breast cancer.”
