GUJRAT - Principal Nawaz Sharif Medical College (NSMC), University of Gujrat (UoG), has been relieved of as head of the medical college and new principal has been appointed, said a press release issued by the UoG on Thursday.

According to a notification, UoG VC Prof Dr Ziaul Qayyum relieved Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal Gill of his duty as principal and awarded the additional charge of Principal NSMC to Prof Miraj Us Siraj, professor of surgery (BPS-21) till further orders, the press release said. It added that the move was made after incessant requests of Prof Zafar Gill who wanted to quit at his own will and attend to some personal matters.

Meanwhile, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of the UoG organized a training workshop for the NSMC faculty here at Hafiz Hayat Campus.

QEC Director Dr Rashid Saeed was the resource person and NSMC Associate Prof Dr Muhammad Tahir Majeed was the convener of the workshop.

The main objective of the workshop was to hone the skills of the NSMC teaching faculty and other staff and equip them with more effective ways of students’ intellectual and personality development.

About 60 medical teachers participated in the workshop.
